In downtown Dallas, West End Square is an innovative civic space and park designed to respond to the needs of the community within the heart of the historic district.

Activity zones hosted under a perimeter steel trellis combine with lush gardens and an interactive water feature, to provide locals an engaging outdoor space for coming together to work and to play.

Whether in the shade of the park’s perimeter canopy, or in the sunny mist of the central fountain, Sam captured moments of play and of pause over a two-day visit to the Square. As with all his assignments, his method included choreographing park users found on and around the site, and digital compositing back in the studio, to ensure the photographs captured the full spirit of Dallas’s newest public space.
